Bill Martinelli aka ‘The Skipper’ had a goal in 1980’s to make American’s skippers, seen in a Charlotte, North Carolina news segment. One day Bill found out he hated running, he found a passion for skipping with his girlfriend on a Rhode Island beach. Bill loves skipping so much he wanted to spread skipping across the nation, he attempted to skip a marathon and made an appearance on The TODAY Show. Six years after Bill began skipping, The Skipper was single living with his parents, scarred from a homophobic beat down and banned from carrying signs since it violated the city’s ordinance.
