The Jiaozhou Bay Bridge opened today and is the longest sea bridge in the world. The over-water bridge connects Qingdao to the Huangdao in China and stretches 26.4 miles. The bridge is expected to carry 30,000 vehicles daily and save commuters 30 minutes one way. Not only is the bridge the longest over-water bridge, it is capable of withstanding earthquakes, typhoons and 300,000 ton vessels. The toll on the bridge will be $7.70 within a month.
