Meteorite Hits Russia.

A meteorite streaked across Russia’s sky at approximately 9:20am local time Friday morning. The meteorite was captured by several dash cameras and a handful of others breaking up in the sky before landing near the town of Satka in Russia’s Chelyabinsk region. The meteorite exploded in the earth’s stratosphere at an altitude of 20 kilometers, [12.5 miles], fragments still fell to earth and hit a zinc factory, causing its roof to collapse. More than 900 people have been treated for minor injuries, injuries were mainly caused by the meteorite’s explosion sonic boom which shattered windows and left others with minor concussions. The incident is not connected to asteroid 2012 DA14, which is expected to pass by earth 17,100 miles above our heads today between 18:00 and 21:30 GMT [2:00pm-5:30pm EST].
