Georgia Students Organize School’s First Integrated Prom

To this day students at Wilcox County High School in Rochelle, Georgia attend segregated proms. A mixed-race group of friends, Stephanie Sinnot, Mareshia Rucker, Quanesha Wallace, and Keela Bloodworth set to break segregation by organizing the school’s first-ever integrated prom. Sinnot says, ‘We are all friends, that’s just kind of not right that we can’t go to prom together’. The senior class is raising money to pay for the integrated prom without help from school officials. The prom is scheduled for April 27th and donations are being accepted to fund the prom here.
