Emergency crews in Jinhua City, Zhejiang in China rescued a baby boy trapped in a sewage pipe over the weekend after the baby’s parents attempted to flush the unwanted newborn down the toilet. Firefighters removed a section of sewer pipe and doctors successfully cut the infant free from the 4-inch pipe. The baby has been nursed back to health at Pujiang People’s Hospital and has received an outpouring of donations, the hospital has said it will also cover the infant’s medical bills. Police are still investigating the incident.
