15-Year-Old Engineering Prodigy Wows MIT.

15-Year-Old Kelvin Doe, aka DJ Focus lives in an area of Sierra Leone where he is lucky if the power comes on once a week. Kelvin has taught himself how to build a battery to power the lights in people’s houses. The 15-year-old engineer has also created his own RF transmitter and a generator, all from electronics parts found in a garbage bin. Kelvin is the youngest person to be invited to MIT’s ‘Visiting Practitioner’s Program’, he presented his technology to undergraduate students from Harvard College and MIT. MIT Media Lab doctoral student David Sengeh shares Kelvin’s story in this most recent video from THNKR.
