Volleyball Spike Takes Out Player And A Fan.
Holy Trinity Catholic High and Winfield-Mount Union High faced off in a girls’ high school volleyball match late last month. During the game a Holy Trinity player sent a powerful spike to Winfield-Mount Union, the volleyball hit an opposing player directly in the face, knocking her to the ground, and returned over the net to take out a fan walking out of the gymnasium. The fan got up and quickly ran out the door, while the Winfield-Mount Union player laid on the ground and was attended to. Both, fan and player, were not seriously injured and Holy Trinity went on to win the match and advanced to the Iowa State Tournament.
