Belmont Stakes Horses’ Day Off.

The 144th running of the Belmont Stakes will take place today without I’ll Have Another who was scratched from the race because of swelling on his leg. I’ll Have Another had the opportunity to win the triple crown this weekend after placing 1st in the Preakness Stakes and the Kentucky Derby during the month of May. I’ll Have Another was a favorite in the 144th Belmont Stakes with 8-5 odds, no horse has won the triple crown in 34 years, make that 35 years now. I’ll Have Another retired from racing just two days before the 144th Belmont Stakes. SB Nation quickly made a video of competitors, Union Rags, Paynter and Dullahan taking I’ll Have Another sightseeing to cheer him up.

Triple Crown Winners.

Preakness Stakes 2012 – I’ll Have Another.

It was the 137th running of the Preakness Stakes today, held at the Pimlico Race Course in Baltimore, Maryland. Earlier this month 3-year-old Chestnut Colt ‘I’ll Have Another’ along with 25-year-old jockey Mario Gutierrez ran the Kentucky Derby with 15/1 odds of winning, they won overtaking Bodemeister along the final stretch. In the running of the Preakness, ‘I’ll Have Another’ and Mario Gutierrez had 3-1 odds, they won in similar fashion overtaking Bodemeister winning by only a head. If ‘I’ll Have Another’ wins the 144th running of the Belmont Stakes held on June 9th, 2012 he will become the first horse to win the triple crown in 34 years.
