Sea Lion Befriends A Young Boy With Asperger’s Syndrome

During a recent visit to the Smithsonian’s National Zoo in Washington, D.C., Alex, a 7-year-old with Asperger’s Syndrome, had the time of his life playing follow the leader with Sophie the sea lion. Alex’s mother, Jennifer, says her son often feels isolated and ‘to see him so in sync with his new friend was truly touching’. Moments before the video ends you can hear Alex yell, ‘this is the best thing of my life’.
