West, Texas Fertilizer Plant Explosion

Firefighters were fighting a blaze at a fertilizer plant in West, Texas Wednesday night when it exploded. The massive blast destroyed 50-60 homes, a 50-unit apartment complex and triggered a 2.1-magnitude quake felt up to 50 miles away. Derrick Hurtt stopped 250 yards away to film the plant fire with his cellphone and captured the moment of the blast. Derrick described what he saw in an interview with Matt Lauer on the TODAY show Thursday morning. The blast has injured more than 160 people and killed 5, that number is expected to increase as the search for missing people continues. West Texas emergency resources can be found here.
