Wild Raven Lets Woman Pull Porcupine Quills From Its Face After Attack

A wild raven perched on top of a fence and squawked for over an hour at Gertie Cleary’s home last month in Nova Scotia. Cleary noticed the raven had quills on its face and knew she had to help. The raven waited and allowed Cleary to pull each painful quill from its face. Once the quills were removed Cleary fed the raven dog food and water. Cleary’s daughter named the raven Wilfred and it hung around for a day before flying off. Hope Swinimer of Hope for Wildlife said that if Cleary hadn’t helped the raven it probably wouldn’t have survived.
