College Roommates Find More Than $40,000 In $20 Second-Hand Couch And Track Down Owner To Return The Cash

Earlier this year three college roommates, Reese Werkhoven, Callie Guasti and Lara Russo, purchased a used couch for $20 from a nearby Salvation Army in New Paltz, New York. In April the roommates felt crinkles in the couch’s pillows, opened them up, and discovered more than $40,000 in cash hidden inside. When they found an envelope with a woman’s name on it, they tracked the her down and returned the cash. The anonymous woman gave them $1,000 for their good deed.
