High School Punishes Honor Student For Giving Drunk Friend Ride Home From Party

Two weeks ago, when 17-year-old Erin Cox, a senior honor student at North Andover High School in Andover, Massachusetts, received a call from a friend at a party who was too drunk to drive, she didn’t hesitate. Moments after arriving to the party, the police showed up and busted several kids for underage drinking. Despite police confirming that Erin wasn’t there to drink, Andover High School took away her role as team captain of the volleyball team and suspended her for five games saying she violated the district’s zero-tolerance policy toward alcohol and drugs. Even knowing the consequences, Erin says she would do it all over again because ‘it was the right thing’.
